The Yankees are rolling tonight and as I’m writing this it would seem that they are going to win easily. But hear me out…
It seems to me that this team has a bad pattern; namely it wins when it scores a lot or runs.
Right now they are hitting everything that moves and driving it far. Joba’s throwing 95+, CC is going to get the win stopping yet another Yankee losing streak of 2 or more in a row.
But…
Tex left the game with a bruised thumb.
CC gave up 5 runs tonight.
A-Rod is already on the DL.
Burnett looks awful.
Pettitte is still hurt (I know he’s supposed to be better soon but he’s not right now).
Truthfully, there are issues in the bullpen.
Here’s my question, do you think this team can win a 1 run game in October? More importantly can it come back after it’s been down in the 7th?
The truth is that I don’t know.
Maybe CC gave up the runs because the wind was just really blowing out tonight. Maybe Tex will be fine and A-rod will go on another post-season tear.
Then again, maybe they’ll fold like a house of cards. I hope not. There’s nothing worse than a winter where the Yankees didn’t win.
I’m just not convinced that this team is truly a championship team, maybe I’m wrong. I hope that I am.
