Tex heats up, Mitre gives it up

Mark Teixeira smashed two home runs today. OK, I didn’t see either one but I heard them on the radio and anytime someone hits two in one game they earn the right to be given some superlatives. (I just went to yankees.com and watched them both–he hit them both pretty hard).

What this loss does though is show that Sergio Mitre is probably not our guy. It’s hard for me to fathom that the Yankees don’t have anyone in the Minor Leagues that they can bring up. I know that Andy says he feels good after a game of catch and all that but still it just seems odd to me.

The conspiracy theorist in me says that Tex got both of his dingers because the Royals were up so much that the pitcher was just making sure they were over the plate and Mark crushed them. Of course, the second half of that sentence is what matters, he crushed them bringing his total to 20 for the year. A-Rod had a decent game and so did Jeter. Interestingly enough to me, Tex left 4 men on base.

Perhaps, tomorrow will be the day that we’ll see 600.
