By now, you have probably seen the “controversy” surrounding A-Rod and some pitcher from Oakland. Dallas Braden is his name. He took exception to A-Rod running across “his” mound. In fact to hear him you would think that A-Rod tried to sleep with his wife or girlfriend. He barked at A-Rod on the field. He slammed stuff and strutted around like a Peacock on the farm when he made it to the dugout. According to a Yahoo Sports blog, he said,
“He should probably take a note from his captain over there and realize you don’t cross the pitcher’s mound in between an inning or during the game. I was just dumbfounded that he would let that slip his mind — being someone of such status.”
“I don’t care if I’m Cy Young or the 25th man on the roster, if I’ve got the ball in my hand and I’m on that mound, that’s my mound … He ran across the pitcher’s mound foot on my rubber. No, not happening. We’re not the door mat anymore.”
I respect that he wants his teammates to man up. But his “threats” were surreal. “There will be repercussions!” seems like a bad Horatio Caine line, which is to say it could be any of H’s lines.
Should A-Rod have run over the mound? To be honest, I’ve seen it at all levels as an umpire and I’ve never seen a fight break out over it. It brings to mind Heath Ledgers portrayal of the Joker, “Why so angry Pitcher?” Dude, you’re getting paid to play baseball. Chillax.

I loved what Morgan Ensberg had to say on his blog about this. He put it in the form of a trial. He Found A-Rod not guilty and Dallas Braden to be an idiot.
