Javy Struggles Again

Well, there’s a surprise. It’s not like we’ve told you here at Yankeesblog.com that the Javier V deal was bad. He struggled again tonight. Yeah, I know that the Yankees didn’t really hit all that well. Yes, I know that Chad G gave up a monster home run that essentially put a nail in the coffin.

But make not mistake Javier Vazquez built the frame of that coffin.

He had some moments where he looked OK. He didn’t look good. And don’t bother telling me how good he was in ATL. That’s the NL. The NL should be called AAA, the talent level just isn’t there. Atlanta is not New York.  The pressure is other worldly. To this point Vazquez simply hasn’t shown that he can handle that pressure.

Over their last 13 games, the Yankees are 6 and 7. Not bad considering all of their injuries, but not great considering they are in the toughest division in baseball. Thank the heavens for the Red Sox sweep of the Rays this week.

One of the bright spots of this run has been Cervilli’s play. With Johnson on the DL for a while, I think it makes sense to bring Posada back in that role and leave Frank behind the plate.

Yankees need to hit and they need to find a fifth starter.
