A friend of mine recently wrote me with his list of favorite players at each person for what he defined as “our era” (’90 through today). Here’s my list. Note, this is not a list of who I think is the best, simply who I like the best.
C–Joe Girardi
1B–Constantino (Not that good at broadcasting but Man!)
2B–Soriano. (The home run he mashed off of Shilling still causes me to stop in awe and watch)
3B–Aaron Boone (Who can forget his swooping run). A-Rod may end up here someday for me.
SS–Jete (Come on!)
LF–Straw (Can you imagine how good his #’s may have been if he had been able to stay away from coke?)
CF–Bernie (I’ve documented long and hard how wrong I think it how they’ve treated him
RF–Paul O’Niel (Can there even be discussion?)
SP (Right Handed)–Cone
SP (Left Handed)–Pettite (My all around favorite–otherwise I’d have picked Boomer here)
RP–Jeff Nelson (Dude, jumped over a wall and bashed a fan to protect his teammate)
CP–Wetteland (Mo may be the best ever but Wetteland had a way about him.
