2010 Preview in Brief: Milwaukee Brewers

Can I be honest; I want to like the Brewers. I do. I think their uniforms are cool. I think the little goofy guy that slides down the slide is extremely cool. I like Prince. There’s a lot I like about the Brewers—except for their constant under achievements.

Manager Ken Macha is one thing about the Brewers that I’m not sure I like. I know he’s won places but isn’t he the same manager that questioned Jermaine Dye’s “heart” when Dye broke his leg? That’s just bush league.

Chicago Cubs: 2010 Preview

Besides already linking to my favorite Cubs video that both at once grosses me out and draws me in, the 2010 Cubs will again be something of an enigma.

**Editors Note. The format for these predictions is going to change as analytics show that these posts don’t get long-term hits. **

In their manager position sweet Lou is something of an enigma. Does he help? Does he hurt? I don’t know. He can be entertaining and as a former Yankee and a Paison of course, I love him on some level but I’m not sure he’ll be able to help this team this year.

Pittsburgh Pirates run at infamy or at the top?

Ah, the Pirates. The team of my father’s youth, now known more for trading away talent than anything else you are the quintessential farm system for other teams that win. Those screaming foul regarding the state of baseball’s current economics often point to your ineptitude.  I have a love/hate relationship with you.

Manager: If you are a religious person, manager John Russell deserves your prayers. There is no way his coaching acumen can be determined based on his wins and losses over the last two years. Poor guy has been tied to the driver’s seat of baseball version of the Titanic. No, that’s too kind; the Titanic had some money put into it.

Astros Overview: 2010 is a good year to play video games ‘stros fans.

The Astros had the worst record in baseball after the All-Star break and there’s really no reason to believe that they won’t pick up in 2010 where they left off in 2009.

Manager: Geoff Blum said, recently, “It got bad. It was what it was. Everyone could see it. There was a communication breakdown.” Blum was referencing a toxic year under departed manager Cecil Cooper. Let’s be honest, it doesn’t matter if Brad Mills is a good manager or not. This team is old, slow, and has next to nothing in the farm system to replace the “old guys.”  Management has a mandate to slash a bloated payroll so the few stars that they have will probably be gone.

Countdown to Opening Day

As a baseball blogger, I feel it’s my responsibility to at least make some sort of preview and predictions about the upcoming season. As a bit of a superstitious person I confess that predictions make me nervous but there’s that whole heat and kitchen thing to keep in mind so I soldier on!
