Berkman, A-Rod and Burnett
So I’m starting to like Lance Berkman less and less. The Yankees won a good one today. they dealt with the Red Sux as you would think they should.
But A-Rod didn’t play. Why, you ask? Because Berkman hit him during batting practice. Now, we could blame Joe Buck. The story goes as I understand it that A0Rod was sauying hi to Buck when Berkman hit the ball. Then he rolled around clutching his calf.
Could you imagine if this happened before #600?
You, Me, and A-rod. Thoughts on 600 home runs.
A-rod hit his 600th home run. It was a monster shot. Even people that hate the Yankees and A-rod had that to say about it.
The interesting thing is the muted response from much of baseball. I’m going to leave all of the race accusations to someone else. Not because I don’t care but mostly because I don’t believe they are true.
I think the muted response has more to do with the fact that in reality our expectations rarely meet up to our reality.
Someone once told me to always pick dead people for heroes because a dead person wouldn’t be able to let me down.
A-Rod, 600. A distraction in waiting?
Last night A-Rod hit his 599th home run. It was a crushing shot that leapt off of his bat. It actually showed off his strength. Just the pitch before he looked completely overmatched.
On the homerun pitch he almost looked as if he lunged at it. The sound of the crack gave it away though. It sounded like a fifty cal rifle going off. It was an immediate attention grabber, like the pretty girl walking down the street who knows she pretty. In the room I was in, heads snapped around.
A-Rod, Yanks and Spain Lose; Umpires Lose More
Well, the Yankees lost a tough one tonight. Spain lost in the World Cup. That’s always a plus. The good news is of course that the Rays lost too.
That does bring up a good question though. What the heck is wrong with the Umpires? I know it’s a repeat question but the calls in the Dodgers/Reds game were atrocious. The Ump cost the Rays a run and gave them an out they didn’t earn. Now, as a Yankees fan, I’m glad they lost but the blown calls by the umpires this year are beginning to be troublesome.
A-Rod, Diaz? Who Cares?
Am I the only one that just doesn’t care about who A-Rod is dating? I have my yahoo and google settings so that I get Yankee updates anytime they show up in the news or on the fine air of the internet. Sometimes that produces good information. Today, most of the stories were about A-Rod and Cameron Diaz.
I do not care.
Say What? Why So Angry Pitcher?
By now, you have probably seen the “controversy” surrounding A-Rod and some pitcher from Oakland. Dallas Braden is his name. He took exception to A-Rod running across “his” mound. In fact to hear him you would think that A-Rod tried to sleep with his wife or girlfriend. He barked at A-Rod on the field. He slammed stuff and strutted around like a Peacock on the farm when he made it to the dugout. According to a Yahoo Sports blog, he said,
