Pettitte to the DL could be a problem

My favorite Yankee has always been Andy Pettitte. Even when he was in Houston, he was my favorite Yankee. Almost all of my fantasy teams have him on their somewhere. Ussually, I reach too early to make sure that no snags him before I can.

I know, man crushes are awful but I have what I have and I just have to accept it as it is.

All of my emotional connections to and desires for Mr. Pettitte aside his trip to the DL (or apparent trip) is more problematic than I think most people will think at first glance. I’m still not convinced that Javy can pitch when the bright lights of the A.L. East leer down at him like a crotchety old man dealing with a newbie.

Phil Hughes is bound to go through some sort of slump and while the Rays have come back to earth, the Red Sox are heating up like a bunch of geriatrics on speed infused Red Bull.

So what does this leave the Yanks?

Chad Gaudin? Sergio? Some other “Who is this guy again?” guy? Probably and the loss of Andy’s innings could be bothersome. He’s been a rock this season.

Of course, the bombers do have the best record in baseball without Tex or A-rod actually doing all that much in the hitting department. It would seem to make sense to expect theme to improve their hitting as the summer days heat up.

Now, if you’ll excuse me I’ll go sort my Andy Pettitte cards. What? It’s perfectly normal.
