Well, the Yankees lost a tough one tonight. Spain lost in the World Cup. That’s always a plus. The good news is of course that the Rays lost too.
That does bring up a good question though. What the heck is wrong with the Umpires? I know it’s a repeat question but the calls in the Dodgers/Reds game were atrocious. The Ump cost the Rays a run and gave them an out they didn’t earn. Now, as a Yankees fan, I’m glad they lost but the blown calls by the umpires this year are beginning to be troublesome.
It’s about competency. The call against Rollins in the Reds/Dodgers game was disgustingly bad. The plethora of bad calls coupled with the rampant lack of professionalism by a few has cast a dusty and dirty pallor over the fraternity.
Either way, the Yankees will need to regroup tomorrow night. The announcers on ESPN tonight mentioned that A-rod’s leg problems may have come from the 14 inning game last week in Toronto. According to the announcer, Giardi suggested that as a possibility for A-rod’s recent stiffness.
In the AL east that could be a problem. Toronto and Tampa both play on cement covered by turf. It would certainly seem that the Yanks will need A-rod to be able to play games in Tampa late in the season.
