9 things I think I think today but might not think tomorrow

9 things I think I think today but might not think tomorrow or the next day….

  1. Derek Jeter is hurt. He just looks slow to his left as if he can’t push off with his right leg. His swing is a little herky jerky. He just doesn’t look like Jeter.
  2. In tonight’s game, Cervilli threw Cora out in the second. The replay shows Cano’s tag hitting the left hand.
  3. David Wright’s career is not going to go back to what it was.
  4. The Yankees are in real trouble this year. Injuries are piling up and they are in an ugly slump. They simply look bad out there. They’ve blown leads late. That’s something that will rip your guts out if you’re not trotting somebody you’ve never even heard of from AAA into left field.  Starting pitching is the only thing that is keeping them close to the Rays right now. If the Yankees have more games like tonight where the starter just doesn’t have the best stuff going it makes sense that they will only continue to fall further and further out of first place.
  5. The Rays will not keep this pace up.  They’re good and if they stay injury free, they’ll probably win 110 games but there’s no way they stay on this pace.
  6. The Melky trade was just bad. We lost too many runs from last year to just absorb it. I realize that he was only partly responsible for those runs. Cashman has consistently undervalued role players and in the last 15 years it has always ended up biting the Yankees in the butt.
  7. I get tired of hearing about Bob Euker (or however you spell it) every time the ESPN crew does a game.
  8. Cervilli should have been benched for only being able to make it to first on his non-home run home run. That was just pathetically poor base running.
  9. This season can still turn around for the Yankees. At this point the strategy has to be to stay within striking distance (no more than 7 games I would think) and hope we heal up well enough to make a serious run.

This is what I think tonight after watching the Yankees get beat as though they were caught stealing something for 8 innings. I’m gong to sign off now and watch them not mount a comeback.
