Girardi Makes His Case for Boneheaded Move of the Year Award

Sometimes, you can just be too daggone smart for your own good.  The Yankees proved that tonight, losing to the Red Sox 6-3.

Now there was nothing in the game per se that supports my argument. Well, besides the fact that Javier Vazquez was pitching in a big game and I’ve been killing his inability to pitch in big games so there’s no need to stop now. I know, I know he hasn’t been that bad most of the season.

But tonight Lance Berkman was the DH, so Posada sat. That’s stupid. If Girardi continues to make dumb decisions like that I hope he does take the Cubs job next year. Berkman is 2 for 15! That’s a whopping .133! I’m excited that Lance is a Yankee, aren’t you?
Posada is a notorious Red Sox killer. He should have started tonight, DH or plate it doesn’t matter.

Berkman is an unproven commodity. And what he did in Houston does not count. Hitting in Houston where they’re worried about Chuck Norris and his T.V. show is not the same as hitting in New York in a Red Sux series. Now maybe, and this maybe is as big as the Statue of Liberty Girardi wants to see how Berkman will do in the bright lights of a series like this. Maybe he wants to see if he’ll wilt like an unwanted flower from a jilted lover in the August heat or bloom like the same flower on miracle gro.

Maybe, but I doubt it.

By the way, Berkman went 0-4. So now, he’s 2-19. But hey he was a big pick up so sitting Posada makes sense.

Terrible call.
