I’m boycotting the NFL this year. No fantasy football. No pick ‘em. No purchases of clothing or hats. I refuse to give the NFL one red cent of my money. I’ve got a long list of reasons why. The important thing to understand here is that I’m not calling for you to boycott them; it’s just a personal thing for me.
You’re probably wondering what this had to do with baseball or the Yankees. Well, I have it on good authority that one of the vendors for the Jets is a big Yankee fan and a reader of this blog so there’s the connection. Besides the tag line says, blogging all things Yankees, baseball and life. 
So, one of the many reasons I’ve decided to boycott the NFL is their undying hypocrisy. I just can’t stand it anymore. Take this NY Jets, D.Revis thing (I don’t know how to spell his name). The Jets are balking at giving him the money he wants. They are holding the high ground. I mean, a gentleman’s agreement should be his bond, and that jazz. They actually said on TV that they expect him to honor the contract that he signed and play and just because they are nice, standup type guys they’ll renegotiate a little bit with him.
At first glance, this seems to be a legit response from them. I mean the dude signed his name and he still has three years to go. He’s just a money hungry grubber, right?
Well, here’s the thing. In the NFL, there is no such thing as a three-year or any multi-year contract. If the team doesn’t like you, they can just cut you or give you another contract that is for less money.
So their honor only goes one way. Do I think the players are overpaid? Yep. Of course, so are the owners and if that really bothers you, then just stop watching. Oh wait…
