MLB passes the Anti-Yankee Rule?

Major League Baseball passed a new post-season rule today. They have eliminated the day off between games 4 and 5 of the League Championship series (LCS).

The post season is just too long! Too much time off. Last year, the Yankees and Phillies had 14 and 17 days off during the regular season respectively.

During the off-season guess how many games off they had? ***Wait for it***

***Gasp***

14 days!!!

***Shudder***CRY***SHOW ANGST***

Guess what this allowed the Yankees to do last year? They only used three starters! OH the integrity of the game is in question! Yes, you read that right! According to the experts at MLB network, the very fabric of the moral fiber of the game was in question!

Three starters! What’s next? A DH for the NL? Maybe a 10th outfielder for the Pirates? Call congress! Form a special committee! Break out the coffee, this could be an all-nighter! The integrity of the game is at stake!

After I cleaned up my chai that blew out of my nose like a CC fastball from laughing at the absurdity of the “experts” I realized that a more cynical person than myself might dub this rule the “Anti-Yankees rule.”

Two years ago the Phillies won the WS. A smaller market team won—so that has to be good for baseball ergo no rule changes. Last year those Damn Yankees won (what a great band name that would be…oh wait!) so we need to change the rules.
It’s good to have someone to hate, the economy  is down and a bill was just passed that most of the country didn’t approve of. We need someone to blame. Let’s start with the day off.

Imagine if the Yankees win this year. Maybe to protect the integrity of the game, they’ll make us remove an outfielder whenever Mo is in the game.

I don’t get the whole “integrity of the game” argument, but baseball is moving closer and closer to thanksgiving. And as much as I love baseball, I think if we could lose some of these off days in the postseason that would be good.

Yes on an extra outfielder for the Pirates. And they get to use metal bats too.

I actually like the idea of taking away an OF if the Pirates have a lead in the 7th. If they’re behind maybe we could take away two.

    Nobody likes the Yankees.
