- Yankees lose 21-7. Of course, they didn’t actually lose that badly. They only lost 3-1 but the game went over three hours and I get sick of people telling me how low the scoring is. Of course, it’s the same amount of scores.
- The Yankees just look dog tired. The bats are so cold that I think they could chill the beverages. They just look slow and tired.
- We are not better with Granderson on the team then we would have been with Austin Jackson. I know he had some good hits tonight but the man is hitting 220something against lefties. For that matter, we are not better with him then we were with Melky. We may be the same but we are not better. Factor in the loss of Damon and I think Cash more or less screwed up the off season. His love of Vazquez or however you spell his name is just not understandable. It’s like people who enjoy shopping at the Pottery Barn. Why not just dump lighter fluid on your money and burn it? Back to Granderson who I don’t mean to hate on but never has pure speed helped to overvalue a player more.
- The Tigers announcers reminded me tonight that no Michigan team has ever actually lost a game. They’ve had games stolen from them by bad officials and opponents cheating. It’s always good to hear homers but it does concern me that art of calling a baseball game is quickly becoming an endangered species.
- I think Joba is going to end up being one of those guys that we talk about lost potential some day. I hope I’m wrong. It’s all there but he can’t seem to put the pieces together. When the stress is on he crumbles like a house of cards soaked in water for a few days.
- The Yankees are going to have to decied what it means to have Posada as an every day DH. The more they play him at that position the less likely it will be that he will make it back to catching. The problem is that he is so slow. Seriously, some guy in a walker beat him a few weeks ago down to first. Of course, this only works if Cervelli or Montero work out.
- Watching Valverde self destruct right now is fun. Listening to the Tigers announcers explain the psychological issues that Jim Leyland faces throughout a game is actually less fun than it sounds.
- I hate the fact that Rissoli and Isles is set in Boston. I like the show but there are just way too many references to the Red Sux. In other news, the Rangers are learning that they are still rather beatable when Lee pitches because the bullpen gives up his lead like…well, the only simile I can come up with is inappropriate. Also, the Rays are now tied again with the Yankee because of our inability to beat the lower teams.
- Jeter’s .340 with the bases loaded is pretty amazing. His only one grand slam is also ponderous. I at least saw it. He swung at ball three tonight. With the count 2-1 that pitch was at least three inches outside and he swung for a foul ball. He was safe on the last out too. Stinking Umps.
FSN Detroit mysteriously never showed it too closely. MLB network of course showed Jete being out by a half a step.
