The Yankees are rolling but…

The Yankees are rolling tonight and as I’m writing this it would seem that they are going to win easily. But hear me out…

It seems to me that this team has a bad pattern; namely it wins when it scores a lot or runs.

Right now they are hitting everything that moves and driving it far. Joba’s throwing 95+, CC is going to get the win stopping yet another Yankee losing streak of 2 or more in a row.

But…

Tex left the game with a bruised thumb.

CC gave up 5 runs tonight.

The Tigers never lose…

I cheer for the Yankees. After that I just have teams that I like to see lose and I organize them in that order based on who I would rather see lose more. So, I don’t cheer for the Red Sox ever except for when they are playing the Rays this season because every time the Rays lose is a good thing.

One team that I hardly ever cheer for except for when they are playing the Rays or the Red Sux is the Tigers.

Girardi Makes His Case for Boneheaded Move of the Year Award

Sometimes, you can just be too daggone smart for your own good.  The Yankees proved that tonight, losing to the Red Sox 6-3.

Now there was nothing in the game per se that supports my argument. Well, besides the fact that Javier Vazquez was pitching in a big game and I’ve been killing his inability to pitch in big games so there’s no need to stop now. I know, I know he hasn’t been that bad most of the season.

Roy Oh Boy

Have you heard? Roy Oswalt went to the Phillies! My oh my! Roy oh Boy. I had two thoughts about this.

My first thought was, “Well, I wonder if the Philly fans will start crying about “buying” a championship now. Of course, they won’t. They won’t stop and cry for the Pirates or the Astros.

5 Burning Questions

So, I found this article on Bleacher Report today and figured I’d throw my own answers out here.

1. Who has been the best player in the AL East?

-This has to be Cano. The man has been spreading the ball around the field like a farmer fertilizing his fields.

2. And the most disappointing?

-I think this is Joba. The man is more inconsistent than a politician looking for re-election.

3. Who will win the division? And the Wild Card?

Dan Haren to the Yankees?

CBSsports.com is reporting that the Yankees are close to acquiring Dan Haren. The report is pretty bare of any details. I wonder if Haren can pitch in NY. Of course, I wonder if any pitcher can pitch in NY before he actually does. I also hope that they don’t give up too much to get him only to have him become another Pavano. I mean the past deals with Arizona haven’t actually been smashing. Any remember a tall lefthander?

What is Wrong with the Umpires?

Seriously, what is wrong with the umpires this year? It feels like there has been way too many blown calls this year. Maybe there have been, I don’t have any data to say one way or the other.

But

I can say for sure that there have been way too many unprofessional moments.  Jerry West sounded off about the Yankees/Red Sox speed of the game. Unprofessional? Check. I can’t count how many times I’ve seen an umpire take his mask off and invite an argument with a coach or player. That simply cannot happen. They are impugning their right to be unbiased arbitrators of the game.

Are the Yankees in Trouble?

Are the Yankees in trouble? It’s a fair question. I know some of you are going to say that I’m crying wolf, or worrrying too much a little too early but let’s be honest, the bullpen is a mess. The fifth starter gets a dirty yellow stain every time he puts on his pinstripes.

For the first time in Yankee history we’ve blown a lead in three straight home games in the 8th inning or later. In two of those games, we had big leads early and blew them both winning one. I know Thames had an error that led to the comeback and all that but let’s be serious here every Yankee fan this side of the afterlife has a little nagging feeling in the back of their brain that maybe the injuries are going to catch up with us.

2010 Preview in Brief: Milwaukee Brewers

Can I be honest; I want to like the Brewers. I do. I think their uniforms are cool. I think the little goofy guy that slides down the slide is extremely cool. I like Prince. There’s a lot I like about the Brewers—except for their constant under achievements.

Manager Ken Macha is one thing about the Brewers that I’m not sure I like. I know he’s won places but isn’t he the same manager that questioned Jermaine Dye’s “heart” when Dye broke his leg? That’s just bush league.

Ozzie Guillen on Joe Torre and Cashman (Quote of the Year)

I absolutely love Ozzie Guillen. I actually want to write a post about why I think he’s good for baseball. If you haven’t heard there is a little fiasco currently going on in the White Sox organization because of something his something his son posted on his personal twitter page. This led to Oney resigning from his position with the White Sox.

Of course, the media is in a lathered frenzy. Is a divorce between Ozzie and White Sox management imminent? Personally, I doubt it. One of the things I appreciate about Ozzie is his ability to differentiate between personal and business. All of this brings me to Ozzie’s quote on Torre and Cash. He said this:
