The Yanks lose 2 of 3 and I blame Cashman

I know I’ve been hammering Cashman all year and tonight’s not going to be any different. We lost this series and I know that there are injuries, but I blame Cashman. You know who made the last out of the game?
Curtis Granderson, he of the .250 batting average.

Guess who moved to the pen this week?

Javier Vazquez.

You remember him. I was killing the trade to get him two months ago and what was I told? I was told that it was way too early to judge that trade. What did we get out of that trade? Nothing.
I’m not too proud to say, “Well, I was right” or “I told you so.”

Girardi Makes His Case for Boneheaded Move of the Year Award

Sometimes, you can just be too daggone smart for your own good.  The Yankees proved that tonight, losing to the Red Sox 6-3.

Now there was nothing in the game per se that supports my argument. Well, besides the fact that Javier Vazquez was pitching in a big game and I’ve been killing his inability to pitch in big games so there’s no need to stop now. I know, I know he hasn’t been that bad most of the season.

Javy Struggles Again

Well, there’s a surprise. It’s not like we’ve told you here at Yankeesblog.com that the Javier V deal was bad. He struggled again tonight. Yeah, I know that the Yankees didn’t really hit all that well. Yes, I know that Chad G gave up a monster home run that essentially put a nail in the coffin.

But make not mistake Javier Vazquez built the frame of that coffin.

He had some moments where he looked OK. He didn’t look good. And don’t bother telling me how good he was in ATL. That’s the NL. The NL should be called AAA, the talent level just isn’t there. Atlanta is not New York.  The pressure is other worldly. To this point Vazquez simply hasn’t shown that he can handle that pressure.

Why!!! The Javier Vazquez deal just stinks

Seriously, why did we trade for Javier Vazquez?  I want to think that Brian Cashman is a smart guy and defend him when people talk about his stupid moves in the past.
I want to tell them that George Steinbrenner made him do those stupid moves and as the owner of the tea, he has the right to make stupid decisions. I may not like it, but that’s the owner. He can do what he wants with his money.  But then he goes and trades Melky for Javy.
I said then that I didn’t get it (I didn’t have this blog then, so you’re going to have to trust me here) and I don’t understand it today. I mean, I know that Melky is not exactly a future Hall of Famer, he’s not going to be a guy that makes the 100 greatest Yankees of all time, but honestly are we  a better team today because of this trade? No. Are the Braves? Yes.
It just doesn’t look like Javier Vazquez can pitch in the bright lights of New York. Why fight that? Why try to change reality? Are we going to trade Gardy for Jeff Weaver next? Somehow, I doubt it.
