Every Yankee Flaw Being Exposed

The Yankees have a powerful roster.
The Yankees can score a ton of runs.

They have multiple H.O.F. future inductees on their roster. Beyond that, they have a lot of players that will go down in history as really good players if not Hall members. They are close to the best record in baseball and have held that position at various points throughout the year.  The worst thing that can happen to them is that they will have to play a play-off game to get into the playoffs–if they lose every game for the rest of the season. How likely is that to happen? It would seem nigh onto impossible.

Why!!! The Javier Vazquez deal just stinks

Seriously, why did we trade for Javier Vazquez?  I want to think that Brian Cashman is a smart guy and defend him when people talk about his stupid moves in the past.
I want to tell them that George Steinbrenner made him do those stupid moves and as the owner of the tea, he has the right to make stupid decisions. I may not like it, but that’s the owner. He can do what he wants with his money.  But then he goes and trades Melky for Javy.
I said then that I didn’t get it (I didn’t have this blog then, so you’re going to have to trust me here) and I don’t understand it today. I mean, I know that Melky is not exactly a future Hall of Famer, he’s not going to be a guy that makes the 100 greatest Yankees of all time, but honestly are we  a better team today because of this trade? No. Are the Braves? Yes.
It just doesn’t look like Javier Vazquez can pitch in the bright lights of New York. Why fight that? Why try to change reality? Are we going to trade Gardy for Jeff Weaver next? Somehow, I doubt it.

Wang to The Nationals

Various media outlets are reporting that Chien-Ming Wang and the Nationals are about to agree to a one year deal. I think this one of the biggest mistakes the Yankees have made in allowing him to get away.  He’s been injured. That’s all that has been wrong with him. When he comes back healthy, I imagine he’ll own the National League, which is essentially 3.5 A ball.

The Yankees biggest weakness is pitching. As I’ve already said I think Joba should be in the pen and if Cashman had kept Wang, that would just be one more opportunity for someone to fill in the starter position that Joba should be vacating.

Joba Needs To Go To The Pen

I am excited that we are rolling this baby out just in time for Spring Training. With that right around the corner, I think it’s time to bring something up that will be a theme around these parts.

Joba needs to go to the pen. I know, I know we have a set up man and all that jazz. The cold hard reality is that Mo will eventually retire. Sooner or later he’s going to be done tossing the pill at the end of the game for us. Over the course of his career Joba is going to give us more dividends at the Closer position he will at Starter.
